After reading both articles “What’s all this fuss about “digital detox” and does it really work?” I learned how too much screen time is not good for your mental health and the addiction of checking your cellphone. Overtime I have started to realize how often I will look at my phone checking for notifications and I am curious if this is how the obsession to the internet the author spoke about. I spend majority of my free time or when I am bored I will entertain myself by being on my phone. Either watching tik tok videos, on Instagram, or talking to friends on snapchat. My usage of my phone and using it for entertainment increased a lot during covid and the pandemic. At times having to quarantine along with the social distance to connect with people and the real work the internet felt like the closes thing to reality.

I think the concept of digital detox is very important and can be uplifting for those especially who are attached to technology. I believe taking a break and actually applying the digital detox people will feel better and become productive. I have taken a digital detox and it felt like my mood improved and I felt like I got much more done throughout the day. Although technology has became a big part of our everyday lives and allows access to entertainment, news, and communication it can be benefit someone in a positive way.

I have experienced any stress or anxiety associated with being overly “connected”. Recently with he shooting and killing of Daunte Wright it has taken a toll on my mentally. Along with a similar situation with George Floyd both making me wish I could just completely disconnect from the internet completely because the negative affect it put on me. Both situations were unbelievable and where in the state I attend college at so it was very frustrating and I needed to digital detox so I could mentally refresh.
